deviantART watchers remind me of YouTube subscribers. Some will watch you just so you can watch them (sub 4 sub). I have noticed that some will watch you if you comment or fave their work without watching them. That's nice but usually if somebody noticed or enjoyed my gallery if I got a comment or fave on some of my deviations. I always look and see a person's gallery to get a sense of what I'm going to see in the future.

The point of this is to kind of evaluate our watchers. Now I know not everyone is going to comment and fave right away when you submit something. We have lives but sometimes you got to ask yourself: Did they watch us because they liked our work or because you commented and faved their work or many other reasons (you name them)? Also, does the quantity of watchers mean anything to you?

Hehe, good thought. Sometimes I find the time to make a short "analysis" in my comments because that's what people probably are looking for = real feedback.
The number of watchers says something about your "reach". The more you have the more might look at your pics but we all know that the number has nothing to say. I work in Internet Business and I can tell you from facebook (which is a social network like DA) that 30000 watchers or followers have nothing to say about the real reach of a person or channel.
